🦈 MALI DUNAV WITH A BIOLOGIST May 16, Saturday — “How did they catch fish?”, Family science program 6+ “Mali Dunav” is a remarkable site near Belgrade where you can both get to know the nature of the Danube and peer into the distant human past. Among ponds, channels and riverside vegetation, reconstructed ancient camps and dwellings are presented — from the first fishermen to the Neolithic Lepenski Vir and Starčevo cultures. The site shows how the Danube has been a source of life, crafts, travel and early settlements for millennia. How did people live in caves? Whom did they hunt, and how did they catch animals over the centuries? What is an ox bladder and what was it used for? Which animal did humans domesticate first — dog or goat? What did the first boats and nets look like and why were they essential to survival? We will visit each little village, find hides and animal teeth, examine how ancient people lived. We will learn which birds and mammals were domesticated and why they were useful. We will feed a donkey and goats. We will play and have tea in the shade by the pond.
