Summer is a time to calmly try something new without the school load and rush, and to understand how programming works. In this course we work through GameDev — an approach where learning code is built around creating game projects. Teens get acquainted with basic programming logic, game mechanics, rules and interactions inside games, and will develop 2 of their own games. We use Python — an accessible language for starting that is also widely used in real development. Participants assemble their first game projects: simple reaction games, arcade mini-games, basic game mechanics and their own ideas that are gradually refined. This format provides clear, tangible results: ideas turn into working projects and students gain an understanding of how logic and code form a digital product. The course provides first experience in creating personal projects, develops logical thinking, understanding of game structure and confidence in working with technology. Course mentor — Oleg Maslov, CTO and owner of Oscar Studio, and director of the CleverPeople programming school. Oleg has over 17 years of commercial development experience and 6 years of teaching experience, developing educational programs. Among his students are hundreds of graduates aged 14 to 73.
